For As long as I can remember, I have been enjoying The Good Life . By Good Life, I simply think of taking the time to enjoy . It’s all about not going too fast or letting life pass me by. One thing I knew for sure before I had kids, is that I definitly wanted to pass this on to my children. Teaching has to start in the early years and throughout adulthood. I hope my boys agree that they are now enjoying the Good Life as young men. My daughter is still learning but I must say , she already understands the importance of it all.
Music
The Good Life might be different from one person to the next and have various components. For me, one way is through music, mostly JAZZ. My father would listen to Stan Getz and Antonio Carlos Jobim in the house on Saturday night and I remember how it made me feel. Not a care in the world. It was as if by listening to this gendre of music , I was really living in the moment. Life passes by more slowly I find when listening to Jazz. So, it’s no surprise that I wanted to pass this on to my kids. Every now an then , in the car, I would press play and we all would listen together. My daughter associates Jazz music with Christmas time because come December, the talented canadian jazz pianist Oliver Jones plays while we decorate the tree. And that time of year is one of her favorites. The boys often tell me they are listening to some good jazz or blues album ( my husband and I love B.B. KING) and I tell myself I did good !
Don’t Worry, Be Happy
As a parent, you have to take the steps to become a Happy person, another great component in achieving The Good Life! That is the most important lesson you can teach your children. Happy in Love, Happy in Friendships, Happy at work ! If you are Happy, more than likely you will have happy kids. My husband and I agree 100% on this and we always say: If Maman and Papa are Happy, then the kids will be OK ! It’s proven true so far .
Family Tradition
It’s important to create some type of family ritual. Something that makes everyone feel happy Inside. For us , that was our annual trip to Cuba. Sunshine, beach, ocean, culture…and oh yeah…drinks for my husband and I ! Love it ! For one week, all five of us lived a Good Life and we enjoyed every moment.
There is more we can do every day to insure that our kids get to taste the Good Life . One day at a time. If this resonates with you, please leave your comments below . I love reading you.
